According to designer Jonny Plaid, quoted by Know Your Mobile, the device could be 40 percent lighter and 60 percent stronger. The added strength is the result of Apple using a combination of aluminum, carbon fiber, and graphene.
While the Cupertino company may have the technology to achieve such a durable device, the asking price for a product of this kind would undoubtedly by very high. The concept created by Plaid does away with the phone?s Home button, in accordance with rumors that Apple will replace the physical button with a touch-sensitive surface.
The phone would boast a ?Retina 2? display coated with a graphene layer, which would make it a lot stronger than Corning's latest Gorilla Glass, or sapphire.
According to Plaid, ?having the thickness of just one carbon atom, graphene is the strongest known material. A single layer of graphene is virtual indestructible.? This much is true.
Plaid also takes a jab at the potential price points for the various storage capacities of the iPhone 6.
He believes Apple will release the phone in 32GB, 64GB, 96GB, and 128GB capacities with prices ranging between $199 / ?154 / ?132 for the entry-level model, and $499 / ?386 / ?331 (for the high-end version).
Jonny Plaid?s iPhone 6 concept is undoubtedly a bit surreal, but there wouldn?t be a shortage of demand for such a handset, we can all agree on that.
Concepts are what they are, but in the absence of leaks and rumors, they do a pretty good job at keeping our hopes up for the future.
