A SENIOR Technical Officer at the University of Ghana Medical School, Eric Nai Kwadae and his friend, Nii Ako Ashong, are reported dead after enjoying a delicacy of pork soup with cooked rice and Agya Appiah bitters, an aphrodisiac.

Eric Nai Kwadae and his friend Nii Ako Ashong, both 53, were found dead in the former?s residence at Teiman on Sunday at about 6am while two others, Boye Annang, 33 and Ayi Ayeh, 30 were found unconscious.

The two bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue while the two survivors are currently on admission at the Ridge Hospital in a critical condition.

The remainder of the food, drink and soup has also been taken for a forensic analysis.

DSP Freeman Tettey, Accra Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, who briefed DAILY GUIDE, narrated that on Saturday May 19, Kwadae travelled from Accra to his village, Teiman with his driver, Samuel Tetteh Adamah, to a funeral where he met his three friends, one of whom died also.

He took the three and his driver to his home where he prepared the food with which he served them Agya Appiah bitters.

According to the police, the driver, Samuel Adamah, declined eating the food because he does not eat pork.

The four paddies ate the food while watching the Chelsea and Bayern Munich match.

Samuel later retired to bed, leaving the four who were still watching the football and enjoying their meal.

He however woke up in the morning at about 6am and found Kwadae and Nii Ako Ashong dead while Boye Annang and Ayi Ayeh lay unconscious in the hall.

The Adenta police are investigating the matter.

Mr Tettey explained that the police suspected no foul play but did not rule out food poisoning.
