Jerry Springer is grand marshal for Knight Parade

Fistfights. Massive cursing. Catfights. Cheaters. Bouncers.

A night out in Ybor City?

Or an episode of the Jerry Springer Show?

It could be both come Feb. 18, when the Sant'Yago Knight Parade rolls through the entertainment district with Springer as its honorary grand marshal.

TV station MOR and the Krewe of the Knights of Sant'Yago announced the news Wednesday along with a new partnership for the 2012 Pin Chasers Knight Parade. Hearst-owned MOR, an independent station, along with Hispanic sister station estrellaTV Tampa Bay are the television sponsors for the event that is now in its 17th year.

The parade, which comes three weeks after the massive Gasparilla Pirate Fest, Parade and Invasion on Jan. 28, features illuminated floats, bands and, of course, beads (watch out for catfights!).

Springer, whose daytime TV show appears on MOR, will have the honor of presiding over the spectacle, which in most years is considerably tamer than his show, whose episodes have titles like "Honey, Meet My Mistress," "Backstabbing Secret Lovers" and "Baby You're a Buzzkill."

The parade, which typically draws more than 100,000 spectators, according to a news release, starts at 7 p.m. and will proceed down Seventh Avenue in Ybor City.

MOR can be found at 32.1, on Channels 12 and 1012 on Bright House cable and on Verizon FIOS Channels 12 and 512. EstrellaTV Tampa Bay can be found at 32.2 and on cable at Bright House 627, Comcast 228 and Verizon FIOS 464.
