Hit by a demand slump in the residential sector, India is likely to witness around 25% decline in land deals to around Rs 15,000 crore, realty consultant Cushman & Wakefield today said.
The firm also said most of the land purchases would be done by regional smaller players instead of big developers.
?The market sentiment is very negative. This year we may see land deals worth Rs 15,000 crore happening across various locations in the country,? Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) Executive Managing Director (South Asia) Sanjay Dutt told PTI on the sidelines of CII realty summit here.
According to C&W, India had seen land deals worth Rs 20,000 crore in 2011, he added.
Dutt said out of the expected transactions, Rs 7000-8000 crore have already taken place.
When asked about the locations, he said: ?NCR and Mumbai will alone account for 60-70%of the total deals, along with some top tier I cities. Some tier II cities will also witness some deals.?
Most of the land purchases will be done by regional smaller players instead of big developers, he added.
He further said organised players like Godrej, Mahindras and L&T will continue to purchase land as and when required.
Talking about the demand, Dutt said sales of housing units have fallen by about 30%across the country in the last one year.
?Some places in Mumbai and NCR prices have gone up tremendously in the last two years. This has led to slowdown in demand,? Dutt said.

This newly discovered function of MUC1 presents a novel target for the development of new cancer therapies and diagnostics.
MUC1 is a membrane bound mucin protein that is overexpressed in 90% of epithelial carcinomas.? Due to its overexpression in a wide variety of tumors, MUC1 is considered an ideal target for the development of new diagnostics and therapeutics.? Researchers at the University of Nebraska Medical Center recently discovered a new function of MUC1.? Research led by Dr. Michael Hollingsworth has identified a ubiquitin interacting motif common to E2-ubiquitin conjugating enzymes within the C-terminal fragment of MUC1.? They have demonstrated that MUC1 is conjugated to ubiquitin via a cysteine residue only in the presence of an E1 enzyme and they have identified potential targets for MUC1-regulated ubiquitylation, such as the transcription factor c-Jun.? The development of inhibitors against this newly discovered E2 active site within MUC1 could become useful therapeutics for the treatment of cancer.? Furthermore new diagnostics can be developed for ubiquitinylated forms of MUC1 and targets of ubiquitinylation of MUC1, which would be extremely useful for cancer prognosis, monitoring cancer progression, and identifying appropriate therapeutic strategies.

Scientists convening at the largest-ever meeting of tropical biologists congratulated Brazil for its global leadership on environment and science, but warned that recent developments could jeopardize that position, undermining progress on reducing deforestation, protecting indigenous lands, and safeguarding ecosystems outside the Amazon rainforest.
Forgoing the Rio+20 Earth Summit, some 1200 tropical biologists and conservationists met in Bonito, Brazil at the 49th annual meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) to present and discuss topics ranging from ecology to sustainable use of tropical biology. More than half the participants were Brazilian.
At the conclusion of the meetings, ATBC issued a declaration urging the Brazil government maintain its leadership position on environmental conservation and sustainable development, by continuing to utilize scientific input and invest in science and education.
"Brazil's success in advancing science and conservation, while achieving impressive economic growth and significant improvements in human welfare are being watched by the world as a potential model for environmentally sustainable development," said John Kress, a botanist at the Smithsonian Institution who serves as ATBC Executive Director. "But recent developments raise concerns."
"Brazil was on a good track on environmental issues over past 10-20 years," said Carlos Fonseca, a botanist at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. "We saw real changes in how society perceives and values the environment. Recently this changed drastically mostly due to Congress, which is changing the laws to go against popular opinion and the advice of scientists. This is threatening a lot of the achievements we've had in the past two decades."
The declaration cited several issues including the recent push to weaken the country's Forest Code, which stipulates how much forest a landowner must preserve on their property, and proposed infrastructure projects, which could worsen deforestation and degrade important ecosystem functions.
"Changes to the Forest Code are short-sighted and largely ignored input from biologists and conservation scientists," said Fonseca. "The new Forest Code could reverse Brazil's progress in reducing deforestation."
The scientists also noted possible changes in how indigenous lands and protected areas are designated. The proposal would give more power to Brazilian Congress, which passed the revised forest code, and industrial development agencies in determining what lands are set aside as indigenous territories and parks.
"We are concerned about a push in Congress to start reviewing the tenure of the indigenous lands, which is something that is unique to Brazil," said Jos Manuel Fragoso, an ecologist at Stanford University. "Indigenous peoples depend on these lands for their livelihoods and are also very important partners for biodiversity conservation."
"We feel that Brazil has been in a leadership position with regard to the environment so we're disappointed to see the government failing to address concerns raised by the scientific community on some of these large-scale industrial development projects like the Belo Monte dam and the proposed project on the Tapajs River," said Fragoso.
"Brazil is planning 30 new dams in the legal Amazon region by 2020," said Philip Fearnside of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amaznia in Manaus, Brazil. "These dams will block key fish migration routes, flood tens of thousands of hectares of rainforest, inundate indigenous communities, and unleash vast amounts of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Amazon dams are not a source of clean energy."
The declaration urged the government rigorously and transparently consider and utilize scientific information in the planning all dam projects. It noted the need to investigate less damaging forms of technology to meet growing energy needs.
ATBC further highlighted Brazil's lesser-known, but highly important ecosystems, which in some cases haven't experienced the progress seen in the Amazon. The deforestation rate in the Brazilian Amazon has fallen by nearly 80 percent since 2004.
"Brazil must be commended for the drop in Amazon deforestation," said Kirsten Silvius of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. "But other important ecosystems -- the Atlantic forest, cerrado, caatinga, pantanal, and pampas grasslands -- have not received the same level of attention. Indeed, the cerrado is being converted at a more than twice the rate of the Amazon and is at extreme risk from synergistic interactions between fragmentation, climate change and fire."
"The world is still losing forests at a rapid pace, which as a tropical biologist, is a huge concern to me," said Susan Laurance. "Brazil can offer a positive model for other tropical countries but also for its other ecosystems."
The declaration notes Brazil has shown both vision and leadership in investing in higher education and research, and now boasts world-class institutes and scientists in many areas of scientific endeavor. Its development of satellite technology for monitoring the Amazon has been central to setting and meeting of targets for reducing deforestation.
"We urge that the same vision is extended to other ecosystems to ensure long-term environmentally sustainable stewardship," stated the declaration. "New mechanisms are needed to ensure that vital scientific information is incorporated into decision-making processes from the start."
"Brazil has the once in a lifetime opportunity to lead the world on the environment. It has a wealth of scientific capacity and resources available to develop evidence-based policy," said Toby Gardner. "It shouldn't pass up this opportunity."

Yesterday Aaron mentioned how Daron Sutton has been absent from Diamondbacks broadcasts due to a ?personal matter? but that no one is saying anything more. ?Today, per Jerry Crasnick, the plot thickens:
A person familiar with the situation said Sutton recently had been involved in a dispute with the Diamondbacks over the team?s new on-air dress code. But another source said Sutton?s suspension was the culmination of a series of events rather than a single incident.
Crasnick added in a tweet that, while it?s just a hunch, the Sutton thing ?is not going to end well.? ?So, yikes.

For A+ BBB Georgia Mortgage Loan Modification Services CLICK HERE
In the beginning of 2009, Georgia experienced a ten percent rise in foreclosures from the previous quarter, according to a report by RealtyTrac. This increase placed Georgia with the seventh highest foreclosure rate in the nation, with one in every 138 houses receiving a foreclosure filing. Don?t become a victim of our current housing crisis. If you are having financial troubles, call HOMEstart to discuss the possibility of a Loan Modification.
Loan modifications can lower your interest rates, monthly mortgage payments and the principle balance to keep you in your home! The Obama Administration has created a plan called the Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan to save the struggling housing market, also known as HASP. By modifying distressed mortgages, HASP will help struggling borrowers to stay in their homes. Lenders actually prefer to modify loans because it is less expensive than the costly foreclosure process, but HASP gives lenders extra incentive to lower monthly mortgage payments. Lenders will receive $1,000 for each completed loan modification and can also receive an additional $1,000 a year for up to three years, if the borrower makes consistent payments. In addition, the borrowers could receive a principal balance reduction of up to $1,000 a year, for up to 5 years, for making consistent payments.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) awarded HOMEstart as an A+ rated mortgage loan modification company. This A+ rating signifies the fact that HOMEstart is operating in a trustworthy manner, and has never received a complaint from a customer. HOMEstart is the only business in California with an A+ rating from the BBB in both loan modification and real estate loan modification. While the California DRE reported approximately 495,000 registered Real Estate and Mortgage Brokers in California in August 2009, only a mere 300 were licensed to perform mortgage loan modifications. So start with a company you can trust, call HOMEstart today.
Here is one recent example of a loan modification performed by HOMEstart:
Property in San Diego, CATotal monthly savings of $1,132.38/month
* Primary Residence:
Loan amount of $298,819 with an interest rate of 5.875% and monthly mortgage payments of$2,445.30.

ScienceDaily (June 26, 2012) ? Data flowing from a new generation of instruments onboard the Suomi NPP satellite, a joint NASA/NOAA mission, are being used in NOAA's global numerical weather forecast system a record seven months after launch, nearly three times faster than previous missions.
After a rigorous and accelerated evaluation period, meteorologists began using the new data in operational weather models on May 22, 2012. These models are the foundation for all public and private weather forecasts in the United States.
The Suomi NPP polar-orbiting satellite circles Earth every 102 minutes, flying 512 miles above the surface, capturing data from the land, oceans and atmosphere. It carries five instruments, including the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS), which captures atmospheric temperature and water vapor information used to assess the atmosphere and predict weather.
"It takes tremendous effort to ensure data from a new satellite are accurate and ready to be used in advanced numerical weather models. Reaching this milestone clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the partnership between NOAA and NASA and also speaks to the urgency both agencies have for getting these data into NOAA's weather models to enhance our forecasts," said Kathryn Sullivan, Ph.D., NOAA deputy administrator.
Sullivan added, "This data stream from Suomi NPP ensures NOAA will continue to provide life-saving forecasts. This is welcome news after the devastating weather events of 2011, and as the United States comes closer to becoming a Weather Ready Nation."
Along with the ATMS, another Suomi NPP instrument, the Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS), is producing higher spatial and vertical resolution data about the atmospheric temperature and water vapor which, when fully operational, will improve NOAA's weather prediction models for both short and long-term forecasts. In addition to the ATMS and CrIS, three other instruments (the Visible Infrared Imaging radiometer Suite (VIIRS), the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS), and the Clouds and Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES) are flying on Suomi NPP and are performing well.
ATMS also benefits NOAA's hurricane forecasters. When ATMS looks into the eye of a hurricane, it will help provide a clearer picture of the hurricane's warm core and the intensity of its rainfall. Additionally, CrIS will provide more accurate data to the global observing system with the potential to improve prediction for hurricanes and other devastating weather events.
NOAA officials credit the accelerated ATMS data flow to a focused commitment and unprecedented science partnerships within NOAA and through the NASA-NOAA-NSF-Department of Defense Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA) that sped the development of software used in the advanced models. The JCSDA, established in 2001, was created to speed up the time it takes for data from a newly launched satellite to be used operationally in forecasts. NASA provided the ATMS instrument.
The Suomi NPP mission is the bridge between NOAA's Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite (POES) and NASA's Earth Observing System satellites to the next-generation Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS), which NOAA will operate. The JPSS program is now operating Suomi NPP, which is the first spacecraft in the JPSS series. The second in the series, JPSS-1, is on track to launch in 2017.

A photo of the back of George Zimmerman's head, taken during a police interview after the shooting. Zimmerman said Martin attacked him and was astride him, beating him, when Zimmerman fired a single shot into Martin's torso.
Prosecutors released more documents, photos and audiovisual files on Tuesday afternoon from the case of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, accused of murder in the second degree?in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26.
Here is a PDF file containing 29 pages of investigative reports.
Zimmerman told police that he saw Martin walking, followed him in his vehicle, passed him without identifying himself, called the police non-emergency line, lost sight of Martin as Martin ran toward his father's home, followed Martin on foot, and then was confronted by Martin, who attacked him when Zimmerman reached into his pocket for his cell phone to call 911.
The report shows that?Zimmerman passed a "lie detector" test, called a computer voice stress analyzer. Such tests are popular with police departments but usually are not admissable as evidence in court.
The police detective concluded that Zimmerman's actions were "inconsistent" with someone who was afraid of Martin, and that Zimmerman had several chances to end the encounter without violence.
"Investigative findings show that Zimmerman admitted avoiding a confrontation with Martin while Zimmerman was observing Martin from his vehicle, because, as he told investigators, was afraid of Martin," Det. Chris Serino wrote. "Later in the encounter, Zimmerman exited his vehicle, in spite of his earlier admission to investigators that he was afraid of Martin, and followed Martin in an effort to maintain surveillance of him while Zimmerman awaited the arrival of law enforcement officers. His actions are inconsistent with those of a person who has stated he was in fear of another subject.
"Investigative findings show that George Michael Zimmerman had at least two opportunities to speak with Trayvon Benjamin Martin in order to defuse the circumstances surrounding their encounter. On at least two occasions, George Martin Zimmerman failed to identify himself as a concerned resident or a neighborhood watch member to Trayvon Benjamin Martin. Investigative findings show the physical dimension of Trayvon Benjamin Martin, and that of George Michael Zimmerman, coupled with the absence of any specialized training in hand to hand combat between either combatant, did not place George Michael Zimmerman in an extraordinary or exceptional disadvantage of apparent physical ability or defensive capacity.
"Investigative findings show the physical injuries displayed by George Michael Zimmerman are marginally consistent with a life-threatening violent episode as described by him, during which neither a deadly weapon nor deadly force was deployed by Trayvon Martin."
"The following sequence of events were obtained by admissions made by Zimmerman and cannot be corroborated by independent witnesses, nor can be refuted by independent witnesses:
In a video clip from Feb. 27, 2012, released by his attorney, George Zimmerman takes investigators back to the scene of his shooting of Trayvon Martin. (George Zimmerman featured at 2:15)
"While Zimmerman was returning to his vehicle, he states he was attacked by Martin, but only after Martin inquires to Zimmerman, 'What's your problem?'
"Zimmerman, instead of attempting to inform Martin of the reason he was following him, stated to Martin, 'I don't have a problem.'
"As Zimmerman responds to Martin, by his own admission, Zimmerman reaches into his pocket attempting to locate his cell phone.
"As Zimmerman reaches for his cell phone, he stated Martin replies, 'You have one now,' and Martin punches Zimmerman in the face, knocking him to the ground.
"Zimmerman stated that he was battered by Martin to the point of almost losing consciousness. He stated he ultimately had no choice but to shoot Martin in self-defense."
The report continues:
"The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement, or conversely if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party's concern. There is no indication that Trayvon Martin was involved in any criminal activity at the time of the encounter. Zimmerman, by his statements made to the call taker and recorded for review, and his statements made to investigators following the shooting death of Martin, made it clear that he had already reached a faulty conclusion as to Martin's purpose for being in the neighborhood."
The investigator concludes with a recommendation that Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter. He was ultimately charged with a more serious charge, homicide in the second degree.
Police also released a copy of Zimmerman's neighborhood watch handbook, including this warning: "Neighborhood Watch is NOT the Vigilante Police. Work with the police. Be our eyes and ears. Report suspicious activity."

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - European leaders will discuss specific steps towards a cross-border banking union, closer fiscal integration and the possibility of a debt redemption fund at a summit on June 28-29, according to a document prepared for the meeting.
Two officials familiar with the 10-15 page document, drawn up over the past month and which is still being revised ahead of the summit, said it sets out in detail the four "pillars" required for a strong economic and monetary union which leaders believe is necessary to secure the currency project's future.
As well as progress towards a banking union, the paper discusses the need for a more integrated budget policy, steps required for deeper economic integration, and how to retain "democratic legitimacy" if countries give up some sovereignty.
The document has been drafted by European Commission President Jose Manuel Barrows, European Council President Herman Van Romp, European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi, and Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the Eurogroup countries using the euro.
European leaders have already said the first area they need to work on is a banking integration as they try to break the link between bad banks and indebted governments, with the worsening situation in Spain an immediate concern.
EU officials believe that could be achieved in a year, although Berlin wants to see much more progress towards fiscal integration first, something that would require much longer due to the need to change the European Union treaty to achieve it.
The document goes into most detail on the banking proposals, setting out the need for a single European banking supervisor, a common EU deposit-guarantee scheme and a single bank-resolution fund to wind down the region's bad banks, the officials said.
The paper sets out options under each heading, saying that when it comes to a single banking supervisor it could either be charged with overseeing all EU banks, or else look after the major systemic banks with cross-border operations, while another body looks after broader, day-to-day oversight.
The expectation is the ECB will eventually be given sole responsibility for overseeing Europe's biggest banks, while the European Banking Authority watchdog retains a broader oversight role along with coordinating the work of national regulators.
On a common deposit insurance mechanism, the paper suggests that there needs to be a strengthening of and closer integration among national guarantee schemes to provide a more reassuring backstop across the whole European Union.
On a resolution fund to deal with failing banks, it calls for a single mechanism "with a large envelope" that would be financed via levies on the banking sector, such as a financial transaction tax, and would offer "an integrated EU solution for resolution".
The document, which draws heavily on proposals made by the European Commission on June 6, says an "immediate and permanent actualization" of risk may be required to backstop the banking sector. It suggests the euro zone's permanent EST bailout fund could be used to recapitalizes banks directly, rather than having to lend to governments for on-lending to banks.
All of those proposals would be possible under existing EU treaties and could be implemented relatively rapidly, the document indicates.
Even if it took only a year, this will probably not come quick enough to ease market pressure on Spain and Italy that is now reaching danger levels, although some analysts believe a strong signal of intent could help. That could also persuade the ECB to step in.
"Short term, there is clearly a risk that the summit will disappoint markets yet again. If that were to be the case, I have no doubt that the ECB will step in," said Erik Nielsen, global chief economist at UniCredit.
That could take the form of an interest rate cut, further easing of collateral rules for Spanish banks so they can continue to access ECB funds or even a resumption of the bank's bond-buying program, which several of its policymakers oppose, he said.
BUDGET INTEGRATION
In a second section examining the steps required for closer fiscal coordination, the document says there is a need to go beyond existing legislative proposals such as the fiscal treaty, which 25 of the EU's 27 countries have signed up to and which commits them to a balanced budget.
The paper says that as closer banking and fiscal integration is achieved, the issue of actualization of debt will become more immediate and it raises the option of a debt redemption fund along the lines of that proposed by Germany's "wise men".
That is an idea that France, Italy and others have pushed hard for but which German Chancellor Angela Merkel opposes.
Merkel has not ruled out a sharing of debt per se, but has said any discussion on it can only happen at the end of a long process of integration that is likely to take many years. In contrast, France will find it difficult to stomach the loss of sovereignty that fiscal union would demand.
"The political leaders are now trying to move to a degree of fiscal and political union within a very short period of time. In democracies, such changes usually take a few years, and whether enough can be achieved in time remains to be seen," Nielsen said.
"However, in my mind, this does not imply an imminent risk of a breakdown of the euro zone ... It's a political project, and political leaders are unlikely to throw in the towel because markets don't like the policies."
Other sections of the document discuss the broader aims of greater EU labor mobility, efforts to improve pan-EU competitiveness, and to examine common taxation such as a common corporate tax base and a financial transactions levy.
There is likely to be heated discussion on issues such as debt actualization and any pooling of liability under a banking union, with Germany adamant that it will not be put on the line to underwrite the liabilities of other euro zone countries.
No decisions are expected at the summit, but if leaders agree that there are grounds to push ahead, Barrows, Van Romp and the others will be given a further mandate to develop the ideas in greater detail, including more specific timeliness.
Van Romp has said he hopes to have a more thorough set of plans drawn up by the next EU leaders' summit in October or possibly the one after in December.
